I successfully raised 3 Eastern Tiger Swallowtails in the past month and this is the first of the 3 to emerge and it did so on Sunday. As you can see there is little blue on the hindwing which indicates that this is a male. You can see the final instar of the caterpillar here: [link] .

I've got the same problem with the kids I teach! It's so wonderful to watch them grow but it's hard to see them leave.
