This is the first of 3 in a series of Parides or Cattleheart photos. This one is the Pink-spotted Cattleheart which, as you can see, can have a lovely shade of blue. The problem is that more than with most species you have to be at just the right angle to get the blue and let me tell you right now its not from right above.

Subfamily: Papilioninae
Tribe: Troidini

I love these guys. They're so beautiful. It's a shame we usually end up getting more regular Cattlehearts (can't remember the scientific name and don't feel like looking it up) than Pink-spotted.

We use to always get either Parides arcas or Parides iphidamas which are very similar and very common cattlehearts. It all depends on what you have on your permit. If you can display more species I;'m sure you can get them from your suppliers.

lol, I dunno.. I think it would be cool... now if you can have them all congregate and carry small children off, that would be awsome.

I can give the command but there usually isn't enough big ones to pull it off.
