Florida Green by Fezzgator Florida Green by Fezzgator
I'm sure many of you out there have at least seen photos of the Malachite before and I have no doubt there were better than the one you see before you. However, at the very least I can say that this is a true native Florida Malachite. Farmed right here in Florida they were sent to the Rainforst last week and this was one of the first to emerge. A mimic of the Dido, this is eaily one of the more colorful and sought after species in the state!

Scientific Name: Siproeta stelenes
Family: Nymphalidae
Subfamily: Nymphalinae
Tribe: Victorini
